July 27, 2014 - Another $5,300 top prize was up for grabs tonight in round six of the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals tour at the ultra-fast Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia. Chris Madden qualified well and later finished second in the dash, which locked him into the outside of the front row for the start of the 53-lap main event. After leading the first 44 circuits, Chris unfortunately pulled up lame with a flat right rear tire. He got fresh rubber in the pits and returned to the racetrack to salvage a sixth place performance.
July 26, 2014 - The #44 CMR team followed the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series trail to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia tonight for the 15th edition of the 'Rebel Yell,' which boasted a $5,300 paycheck. Chris Madden wound up eighth in his B-Main tonight, which earned him the nineteenth starting spot in the 53-lap feature event. "Smokey" was then able to pass eleven competitors during the headliner to salvage a respectable eighth place showing.
July 25, 2014 - Next up on the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series slate was a $5,300 to win battle tonight at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia. Chris Madden ran second in his B-Main tonight in the Peach State and later started the 53-lap main event from the inside of the sixth row. The Gray Court, South Carolina star then rallied past eight competitors during the feature to score a strong third place effort behind only victor Casey Roberts and runner-up Brandon Overton. Chris is currently on top of the series point standings, as his "Drive for Five" Championships nears the halfway mark!
July 24, 2014 - The Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series took the #44 team to Modoc Raceway in Modoc, South Carolina tonight for another $3,500 to win showdown. Chris Madden qualified third fastest overall during time trials and later placed third in the dash. After starting the 35-lap headliner from the inside of the second row, Chris was unfortunately involved in an early incident with Dennis Franklin and was forced to restart from the tail end of the field. "Smokey" then charged back through the pack to salvage a seventh place performance in his home state.
July 22, 2014 - Round two for the Southern Nationals Series competitors took place tonight at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee and another $3,500 top prize was on the line. Chris Madden knocked down the third quickest lap in Group B during time trials prior to scoring the win in his consolation event. Chris then started the 35-lap feature from the outside of the third row, but was able to move all the way up to second to finish a strong runner-up behind only race winner Randy Weaver.
July 21, 2014 - Chris Madden, of Gray Court, South Carolina, started his "Drive for Five" Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series Championships tonight at the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia! Chris Madden laid down the third fastest lap in Group A during the qualifying session and later grabbed the third transfer spot through his consolation race. After rolling off from the inside of the fifth row in the $3,500 to win main event, Chris stormed past six competitors during the 35-lap headliner to finish in the third position behind only victor Jonathan Davenport and runner-up Dennis Franklin.
MADDEN EIGHTH IN GRASSY SMITH MEMORIAL
June 20, 2014 - Chris Madden Racing (CMR) made the short tow to Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina tonight for the 16th Annual 'Grassy Smith Memorial.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again presided over the storied race, which drew 28 competitors to vie for the $10,000 top prize. Chris Madden knocked down the sixteenth quickest lap during qualifying tonight and later grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his loaded heat race. After starting the 50-lap feature from the outside of the fifth row, Chris was able to move up two spots during the 'Grassy Smith Memorial' to earn a solid eighth place performance. June 11, 2014 - Chris Madden Racing (CMR) made a rare stop at the nearby Laurens County Speedway in Laurens, South Carolina on Tuesday night, June 10 for the annual 'Laurens County Shrine Race.' The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series presided over the single-day show, which paid $3,500 to the winner. Chris Madden timed in eighth quickest during the qualifying session, which locked him into the outside of the fourth row for the start of the 35-lapper. The Gray Court, South Carolina star then picked off three competitors during the race en route to a fifth place showing behind only victor Dennis Franklin, Zack Mitchell, Brandon Overton, and Ross Bailes. June 8, 2014 - Chris Madden and his #44 CMR team invaded the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 5-7 for the 20th edition of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Things kicked off at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary events. On Thursday night, Chris ran second in his heat race prior to picking off a couple of competitors during his $2,500 to win feature en route to a sixth place effort. At Eldora on Friday evening, Chris once again finished second in his heat race and later climbed up to fifth in his $5,000 to win main event to finish behind only winner Dale McDowell, Darrell Lanigan, Jason Feger, and Scott Bloomquist in the 25-lap sprint.
The tension mounted on Saturday at the "Big E," as a whopping $100,000 top prize was on the line in the 20th Annual 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Chris earned a second place finish in heat race action for the third straight night, which locked him into the outside of the fifth row for the start of the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza. After hovering around the top ten for much of the race, the Gray Court, South Carolina star eventually finished right where he started... in the tenth position. Chris qualified seventh quickest overall during time trials prior to finishing fourth in his loaded heat race.
