Chris Madden set fast time in Ultimate Super Late Model Series qualifying, which locked him into the pole position for the 50-lap feature event. The only thing that could stop Chris last night was Mother Nature, as he led the first 41 circuits before rain cut the race short 9 laps. #44 TEAM RETURNS TO ACTION IN CAROLINAS
May 12, 2013 - After nearly a month layoff, the Chris Madden Racing (CMR) team traveled to the Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale, North Carolina and the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on May 10-11 for a pair of $4,000 to win showdowns. On Friday at Lawndale, Chris Madden timed in seventh fastest in Ultimate Super Late Model Series qualifying and had moved up to third in the feature event before mechanical issues relegated the Gray Court, South Carolina ace to a disappointing thirteenth place finish. At Cherokee on Saturday, Chris posted the fifteenth quickest lap in Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series time trials, but problems early in the A-Main caused him to retire in the twenty-first spot. MADDEN TACKLES SPRING NATIONALS DOUBLE-DIP
April 14, 2013 - Chris Madden Racing (CMR) ventured to the Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina and the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on April 12-13 for a pair of Spring Nationals showdowns. On Friday night at Tri-County, Chris Madden laid down the third quickest lap in his group during qualifying, which locked him into the outside of the third row for the $4,000 to win feature event. During the course of the 40-lapper, Chris moved all the way up to second at one point before a late race scramble relegated him to a seventh place finish.
The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted north to Smoky Mountain on Saturday evening for a $6,000 to win program. Chris won his B-Main to earn the ninth starting spot in the 50-lap main event. "Smokey" was then moving forward in the weekend finale before mechanical problems under the hood caused him to retire in the twentieth position. The 4th Annual 'Charles Trammell Memorial' was held at "The Taz" last night and the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) presided over the one-day show. Chris laid down the fastest lap during the qualifying session to earn the pole position for the 50-lapper. "Smokey" then paced the strong field from flag-to-flag in the A-Main to score the commanding $5,000 victory over Billy Ogle, Jr., Stacy Boles, Hunter Peacock, and Mike Weeks. MADDEN SEVENTH IN CAROLINA CROWN
March 31, 2013 - Chris Madden Racing (CMR) rolled into the Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, South Carolina on March 29-30 for the 2nd Annual 'Carolina Crown.' The unsanctioned blockbuster boasted a hefty $30,000 top prize, but only 21 competitors converged on the sprawling 1/2-mile complex. On Friday night, Chris Madden laid down the fifth fastest lap during the qualifying session and later placed a close second in heat race action. Following a second place run in the dash on Saturday evening, Chris started the 60-lap 'Carolina Crown' from the outside of the front row. The Gray Court, South Carolina ace eventually wound up credited with a seventh place performance after sliding back a few spots early in the race. Night one of the annual 'Spring Thaw' drew 29 competitors to "The Gap" looking for the $4,000 top prize. Chris laid down the second quickest lap in Group A during the qualifying session, which locked him into the inside of the second row for the start of the 40-lap main event. The Gray Court, South Carolina ace ran third through much of the distance before winding up fourth behind only winner Dale McDowell, Billy Ogle, Jr., and Steve Casebolt.
MADDEN ENDS WEEKEND WITH LAVONIA RUNNER-UP
March 11, 2013 - The Chris Madden Racing (CMR) team entered a pair of Dirt Late Model events on March 9-10 in the states of Tennessee and Georgia. On Saturday, the historic Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee played host to the 18th Annual 'Shamrock.' Chris Madden timed in sixth fastest in his group during Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) qualifying and later placed fifth in his loaded heat race. Following a B-Main triumph, Chris started seventeenth in the $10,000 to win 'Shamrock.' During the course of the caution-free 50-lapper, the Gray Court, South Carolina ace moved past six competitors to finish eleventh in the final rundown.
The action quickly shifted south to the Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia on Sunday afternoon for the $5,000 to win 'Late Model Mania,' which was sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. Chris laid down the quickest lap during the qualifying session and later started the 50-lap main event from the pole position. "Smokey" lost the race into turn one on the opening lap and ran second throughout the daytime affair to finish runner-up behind only winner Riley Hickman. March 4, 2013 - Chris Madden and his #44 team rolled into the nearby Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Sunday afternoon, March 3 for the 11th Annual 'March Madness.' Chris unfortunately suffered a flat tire during his qualifying laps, but later rebounded from the tail of the field in his heat race to grab the fifth transfer spot into the $10,000 to win main event. After starting the 60-lap A-Main from the inside of the seventh row, Chris had his sights set on making a charge to the front of the strong field. Unfortunately, his #44 machine stripped out the rear end gears early in the race and Chris was forced to retire in the twenty-fourth position. February 10, 2013 - The Chris Madden Racing (CMR) team kicked off their version of the 2013 racing season on Saturday, February 9 at the Waycross Motor Speedway in Waycross, Georgia. The unsanctioned 'Battle in the Swamp' took place last night at WMS and a $10,000 top prize was on the line. Chris Madden laid down the sixth fastest lap during the qualifying session and later ran third in his loaded heat race. After starting the 50-lap feature event from the outside of the third row, Chris was able to move up three spots en route to a solid third place showing behind only winner Donnie Moran and runner-up Mark Whitener.
