MADDEN'S HOLIDAY WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTED BY WIN AT CHEROKEE!!!
July 7, 2008 - Chris Madden competed in a pair of Dirt Late Model events over his busy 4th of July holiday weekend. The weekend was highlighted by a $4,000 triumph at the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Thursday night, July 3. Chris started from the outside of the front row for the O'Reilly Southern Allstars East Series-sanctioned main event and led all 40 laps en route to the win over Randle Chupp and Jeff Smith. The #44 team then planned on entering a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show on Friday evening, July 4 at the Tazewell (TN) Speedway, but Mother Nature cancelled the racing action during qualifying.
The holiday weekend was then capped off on Saturday, July 5 at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series invaded "The Gap" on Saturday and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Chris qualified well and later ran second in his competitive heat race. After starting fifth on the grid for the 60-lap feature event, the Gray Court, South Carolina native was running fourth in the A-Main until his #44 came up lame around the halfway point with smoke bellowing from underneath the car. Unfortunately, "Smokey" was relegated to a disappointing twenty-third place finish due to the mechanical troubles. You can view complete results from the action-packed weekend online at www.southern-allstars.com and www.lucasdirt.com.
CHRIS MADDEN TRANSFERS INTO 'FIRECRACKER 100'; FEATURE RESET FOR JULY 29
June 30, 2008 - The Chris Madden Racing (CMR) team traveled to the legendary Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania last weekend for the 2nd Annual 'Firecracker 100.' The World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned the high-profile event, which drew 62 cars all vying for the $40,000 top prize. Chris Madden timed in twenty-second fastest during qualifying on Friday night, June 27 and later earned the third and final transfer spot in his competitive heat race. He was slated to start sixteenth on the grid in the $40,000 to win main event on Saturday, but Mother Nature wiped out the action on Saturday at Lernerville, as well as the rain date on Sunday. The C-Main, B-Mains, and the 100-lap 'Firecracker 100' are now rescheduled for Tuesday, July 29. You can view complete results from Lernerville online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
