MADDEN WINS DIXIE SHOOTOUT AGAIN!
October 6, 2014 - Chris "Smokey" Madden claimed his second straight 'Dixie Shootout' title on Saturday evening, October 4 at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia! After posting the second quickest lap in Group B during the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying session, Chris won his heat race to earn the fourth starting spot in the 50-lap headliner. Chris then worked his way past leader Dale McDowell to grab the point on lap 33 and led the remainder of the distance to bag the $10,000 payday ahead of McDowell, Don O'Neal, Steve Francis, and Jimmy Owens!
A night later, the #44 team was in the pit area at the ultra-fast Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia on Sunday for the annual running of the 'Rome Showdown.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again sanctioned the battle at Rome and another $10,000 top prize was on the line. Chris clicked off the fastest lap in Group B during time trials and later placed second in his heat race. BUSY WEEKEND FOR MADDEN AT EAMS
September 29, 2014 - Chris Madden, of Gray Court, South Carolina, enjoyed a very busy weekend (September 26-28) during the 36th Annual 'Alabama State Championship' at the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama, as he competed with both the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series and the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS). Driving a #6 Barry Wright entry for Crowder Trucking in the Chevy 525 Series, Chris set Fast Time on Friday during qualifying and later led all thirty circuits of the headliner to claim the $2,000 top prize over Jake Knowles, Ronnie Johnson, Ryan King, and Ray Cook! On Saturday evening, Chris qualified second fastest in time trials and was leading on lap 11 of the $3,000 to win feature before an untimely flat right rear tire dropped him to a disappointing twentieth place performance.
Behind the wheel of his familiar #44 ride during SAS action, Chris had his sights set on the $4,000 top prize on both Saturday and Sunday. "Smokey" laid down the quickest lap during the qualifying session on Saturday night, but later suffered problems during the 40-lapper and retired in the twenty-second position. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) presided over the 'King of the Mountain Fall Classic,' which boasted a $5,000 payday. Chris laid down the fastest lap overall during the qualifying session and later started the 40-lap headliner from the pole position. After leading much of the caution-free affair, Chris lost the top spot to eventual winner Randy Weaver with only three circuits remaining and settled for a strong runner-up performance. STRONG WEEKEND FOR #44 TEAM AT ELDORA
September 7, 2014 - Chris Madden Racing (CMR) invaded the hallowed grounds of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 4-6 for the 44th edition of the 'World 100.' Things kicked off at the "Big E" on Thursday and Friday with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs, each of which paid $5,000 to the winner. On Thursday night, Chris Madden won his heat race and led laps 7-14 of his 25-lap main event before eventually netting a fourth place performance behind only winner Jimmy Owens, Kent Robinson, and Tim McCreadie. At Eldora on Friday evening, Chris once again won his heat race prior to placing fifth in his 25-lapper behind only victor Jonathan Davenport, Scott Bloomquist, Brian Birkhofer, and Billy Moyer.
The stakes were much higher on Saturday at Eldora Speedway and Chris was all-in gunning for the prestigious globe trophy and the $47,000 winner's check in the 'World 100.' The Gray Court, South Carolina star won his heat race for the third straight night on Saturday by besting Bobby Pierce, Darrell Lanigan, and Jimmy Owens. After starting the 100-lap grind from the inside of the second row, Chris fought a tight racecar throughout the race and eventually claimed a respectable eleventh place effort. MADDEN GETS FIFTH SOUTHERN NAT'S TITLE!!!
August 2, 2014 - Chris Madden and the Chris Madden Racing (CMR) team officially clinched their fifth Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series point title tonight in the series finale at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee! Chris knocked down the third fastest lap during the qualifying session and later scored the victory in the dash for cash. After starting the $5,300 to win feature event from the pole position, Chris paced the field for the first 23 circuits before ultimately suffering a flat left rear tire. July 31, 2014 - Round eight of the 2014 edition of the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series took Chris Madden to Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee tonight for a $3,500 to win program. Chris unfortunately got into the wall during qualifying and was forced to scratch from the B-Main to prepare his back-up car. The Gray Court, South Carolina star then took a series provisional, started the 35-lap main event from the inside of the eleventh row, and proceeded to blast past fourteen competitors to claim a solid seventh place effort. July 29, 2014 - Following a needed day off from the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series grind, the #44 team returned to competition tonight at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. Chris Madden laid down the fourth quickest time during qualifying and later finished fourth in the dash for cash. After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the $3,500 to win feature event, Chris moved up to second in the 35-lapper to finish a strong runner-up behind only race winner Randy Weaver.
July 27, 2014 - Another $5,300 top prize was up for grabs tonight in round six of the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals tour at the ultra-fast Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia. Chris Madden qualified well and later finished second in the dash, which locked him into the outside of the front row for the start of the 53-lap main event. After leading the first 44 circuits, Chris unfortunately pulled up lame with a flat right rear tire. He got fresh rubber in the pits and returned to the racetrack to salvage a sixth place performance.
July 26, 2014 - The #44 CMR team followed the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series trail to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia tonight for the 15th edition of the 'Rebel Yell,' which boasted a $5,300 paycheck. Chris Madden wound up eighth in his B-Main tonight, which earned him the nineteenth starting spot in the 53-lap feature event. "Smokey" was then able to pass eleven competitors during the headliner to salvage a respectable eighth place showing.
July 25, 2014 - Next up on the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series slate was a $5,300 to win battle tonight at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia. After starting the 35-lap headliner from the inside of the second row, Chris was unfortunately involved in an early incident with Dennis Franklin and was forced to restart from the tail end of the field. Things kicked off at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary events. On Thursday night, Chris ran second in his heat race prior to picking off a couple of competitors during his $2,500 to win feature en route to a sixth place effort. At Eldora on Friday evening, Chris once again finished second in his heat race and later climbed up to fifth in his $5,000 to win main event to finish behind only winner Dale McDowell, Darrell Lanigan, Jason Feger, and Scott Bloomquist in the 25-lap sprint.
